How to make Jalapeno Popper Dip

  1. Make sure to wear gloves! Cut the jalapenos in half and remove the stem, seeds, and membranes. Chop finely into small pieces.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and spray an 8×8-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the chopped jalapenos, cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, 1 ½ cups of cheddar cheese, 2/3 of the bacon bits, shallot, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Place into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  4. Melt the butter in a small bowl that is microwave safe. Crush the Ritz crackers with your hands and add them to the melted butter along with the remaining cheese, bacon bits, and parsley. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the top of the dip.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly, then serve. This dip is best served hot right out of the oven. You can keep this warm in a slow cooker or in a cute serving bowl for the perfect party appetizer!
  6. Serve with your favorite crackers, tortilla chips, pita chips, baguette slices, bell peppers, or any other favorite snacks and veggies!

FAQs

Can I use Greek Yogurt in place of mayonnaise?

Yes, you can substitute Greek yogurt for mayo in a 1:1 ratio! Greek yogurt has a thicker consistency than mayonnaise but works in most recipes.

Can I make this creamy dip ahead of time?

Yes, this jalapeno dip can easily be made in advance! Prepare the recipe and place it into the baking dish, then cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate. It should keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.

When you’re ready to finish the dip, remove it from the refrigerator and let it warm up while the oven preheats. Then bake and serve as directed in the recipe.

How do I store leftover Jalapeno Popper Dip?

Transfer any leftover dip to an airtight container and refrigerate. It will keep up to 3 days in the fridge. To reheat, simply microwave on high for 30-60 seconds and stir. Continue heating if needed until warm throughout.

Can I freeze this Jalapeno Popper dip?

I don’t recommend freezing this dip, as cream cheese tends to separate and crumble when thawing. Technically, it is possible, but I think it’s better served freshly made.
