This Skillet Apple Fritter gives you all the flavors you would expect in a fritter, but baked and not fried. It is very similar to my Apple Fritter Monkey Bread.  You can always try my Apple Fritter Bread for another delicious, baked way to enjoy an apple fritter treat.

Preparing the Apples

The first thing you will want to do for this recipe is peel, core, and dice your apples. I used Granny Smith apples for the recipe because they remain firm when baking. They won’t turn to mush and they tend to retain their shape when baked. A few other options you could try would be Honeycrisp apples, Braeburn, or Pink Lady apples.

Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt to a bowl and stir well. Add the diced apples right to that and stir to coat each piece. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the coated diced apples and cook until the apples are tender. This will take about 5 minutes. While the apples are cooking, prepare the biscuits.

How to Make Skillet Apple Fritter Bread

  • As the apples are cooking, take out and separate each biscuit and cut each into 6 pieces.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar.
  • Roll each piece of biscuit in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  • Place each coated biscuit piece into a greased, oven-safe 12-inch skillet.
  • Spoon the cooked apples over the biscuits and bake for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or homemade whipped cream. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Heat it up in the microwave the next day and enjoy it again!

Can I Use a Different Pan?

You could definitely make this treat in a 9×13-inch baking dish. The cookie time is the same.

Can I Use Different Fruit?

Yes, absolutely. This would be delicious with strawberries, blueberries, even banana. However, you may want to adjust the amounts and amount of cinnamon, if any.

Can I Make the Bread from Scratch?

Sure! I recommend starting with the dough recipe in my Homemade Monkey Bread
