How to Make a Lemon Drop Martini
Get out your shaker to get this martini ‘shaken, not stirred’. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, I would suggest getting your hands on one sooner than later. The main reason to have one is to get that lovely blend of flavor in your mixed drink. There are others, but I digress. To make this martini, first take out a martini glass (if you have one, but any glass will do) and coat the rim. To coat the rim with sugar, dip the top of the glass in some lemon juice, followed by dipping it into a plate of sugar. If you don’t want your drink as sweet, just skip the sugary rim.
To mix the martini, fill your shaker full of ice. Add vodka, sugar, and fresh lemon juice. Shake, shake, and shake some more, as vigorously as you can! You want the sugar to be dissolved and the martini to be very cold. Strain the vodka mixture into a chilled martini glass and serve with a lemon wedge.
How to Make a Martini without a Shaker
Don’t miss out on a refreshing cocktail just because you don’t have a cocktail shaker…yet?. A great alternative would be to use a to-go coffee mug with a solid lid. Fill the mug up with ice, just like in a shaker, add all the ingredients, cover the opening mouth part, and get shakin’! When you are ready to pour the martini into the glass, just open up the mouth opening and pour. The lid should hold the ice back so you just get the chilled cocktail.
