Baked Apple Fritters

These Baked Apple Fritters are so easy to make and so delicious, you really won’t miss the fried dough and splattering oil! Baked apple fritters will still give you that apple flavor in every bite. Plus, they are drizzled with the homemade glaze I use for my other fritter recipes. These are a bit crisper than a fried fritter but just as flavorful.

Baked Apple Fritters Recipe

With just a few simple ingredients, you can have an apple fritter treat ready to share or indulge in on your own. There is no oil (thus, no splattering of oil) involved. But, the glaze is still the same as my original Apple Fritter recipe, so don’t forget about that!

Fritters Ingredients (full recipe below)

  • Tube of original flaky biscuits
  • Granulated sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Apple
  • Butter

Glaze Ingredients

  • Confectioners’ sugar
  • Vanilla
  • Water

How to Make Baked Apple Fritters

Preheat the oven to 350°F while you mix the ingredients for the apple fritters. Separate the biscuit dough into eight biscuits, cutting each of the biscuits into 10 pieces. Place the pieces of dough in a large bowl with the sugar, cinnamon, and chopped apple. Mix the ingredients together and scoop about 1/4 cup of the dough for each fritter. Place the scoops of dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet, pressing them into about 3-inch fritters. You will probably get close to 12 fritters out of this recipe. Melt the butter and drizzle it evenly over the fritters. Bake them for 14-17 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the glaze.

How to Make the Glaze

You may have noticed that I opted for water instead of cream or milk in the glaze recipe. When coating donuts you want the glaze a little thinner than you would use for cakes or cookies. Another option instead of a glaze? Sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar when cooled. It’s just 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. You could also dust them with confectioners’ sugar. Or simply enjoy plain!

Kinds of Apples for Apple Fritters

I prefer to use Granny Smith apples in this recipe (as well as my original Apple Fritters recipe) as they hold up beautifully when baked or fried. We did try Honeycrisp apples and liked it, but when we tried Red Delicious apples, it wasn’t our favorite. The texture of the red delicious apples was almost the same as the donut and there wasn’t as strong of an apple flavor. When possible, opt for a Granny Smith!

  • 1 tube (16 ounces) original flaky biscuits
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup apple, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted


  • 1 1/4 cups (156g) confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3-6 teaspoons water



  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Cut each of the 8 biscuits into 10 pieces.
  • In a large bowl, combine the biscuit pieces, sugar, and cinnamon. Stir in the chopped apple.
  • Drop 1/4 cup scoopfuls of the dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet, pressing each into a 3-inch fritter.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the fritters.
  • Bake for 14-17 minutes, or until golden brown, and prepare the glaze.


  • Make the glaze by combining the sugar, vanilla, and 3 teaspoons of water. Add more water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until a pourable consistency is reached.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled baked fritters and let dry.
