We’re Bringing Ireland to You on IGTV!

Join us over on our Instagram for a little taste of Ireland! Our editor-in-chief, Brian Hart Hoffman, is demonstrating how to make some of the delicious and authentic Irish recipes from our July/August 2020 issue. From a marbled cake with fluffy Irish cream frosting to classic and regional favorites, we’ll take you through each step so you can have a little Irish adventure right in your own home.

  1. Irish Cream Cake

In the first of our series of Irish videos, @brianharthoffman kicks things off with this delicious, marbled Irish Cream Cake! We fell in love with Five Farms Irish Cream and knew we needed to create something wonderful with it. This cake has Irish cream mixed right into the batter and then it’s swirled with chocolate batter to create that beautiful marbling. As if that weren’t enough, it’s topped with fluffy Irish Cream Buttercream! We’re clearly fans of Five Farms Irish Cream, but feel free to use whatever is available in your area.

2. Apple Slice Traybake

Next up, @brianharthoffman is bringing you this Apple Slice Traybake! Hailing from County Kerry, where all that golden Kerrygold butter is made, this Kerry apple slice is traditionally baked in a bastible over an open fire, but we combined it with another Irish classic: the traybake. This simple yet decadent dessert is a common source of comfort in the Irish home, and it can be in yours now, too!

3. Soda Farls

Northern Ireland has its own take on soda bread, known as soda farls. After learning how to make these at @traceysfarmhousekitchen, @brianharthoffman demonstrates how easy it is to make them at home, from shaping to “harning” the dough to achieve those crisp edges. Make them on a griddle or in a cast-iron skillet, whichever you have on hand. Serve with Herb Compound Butter and you’ll have a little piece of Ireland in your own kitchen!
