Sugar Cookie Cocktail

Decorating sugar cookies is all the rage during the holidays. But, don’t save the sweet frosting and festive sprinkles just for the cookies! With a flavorful and decorative rim, you get the sweetness of a decorated cookie with the flavors of a sweet, creamy drink in the glass. It’s definitely an adult dessert drink that is perfect to add to your holiday drink menu.

Sugar Cookie Cocktail Ingredients

No, there is no sugar cookie in this sugar cookie cocktail recipe, but you could definitely top off the drink with a cookie. In fact, bake a batch of these sugar cookies while you sip on the drink!

Buttercream: You only need a teaspoon of buttercream for the rim of the glass. But, if you were planning to do some more decorating with buttercream, I have an American Buttercream recipe you could make.

Sprinkles: You can never have too many sprinkles!

Vanilla Vodka: Vanilla vodka is perfect for adding a touch of sweetness to this dessert drink, which goes along with the sugar cookie name.

Baileys Irish Cream: This is an alcoholic beverage made with cream, cocoa, and Irish whiskey. It is delicious on its own, over ice, or, of course, in coffee. You could easily substitute Kahlua for the Baileys in this recipe for more of a Vanilla White Russian.

Heavy cream: Heavy cream is at least 30% fat (as opposed to half and half, which is only 10-18% fat).

How to Make a Sugar Cookie Cocktail

Get out your cocktail shaker and a drinking glass to get started with this sugar cookie cocktail recipe. First, add a layer of buttercream around the rim of the glass. Roll the coated rim in a bowl full of sprinkles. Again, the more sprinkles, the merrier! Fill the glass almost full of ice. The key to this drink is keeping it cold. Set the glass aside.

Pour the vodka, Baileys, and heavy cream into a cocktail shaker. Shake, shake, and shake some more, as vigorously as you can! Shake until the mixture is frothy. Strain the mixed drink over the ice and enjoy!

How to Make a Cocktail without a Shaker

Don’t miss out on this fun sugar cookie cocktail just because you don’t have a cocktail shaker. A great alternative would be to use a to-go coffee mug with a solid lid. Fill the mug up with ice, just like in a shaker, add all the ingredients, cover the opening mouth part, and get shakin’! When you are ready to pour the drink into the glass, just open up the mouth opening and pour. The lid should hold the ice back so you just get the chilled cocktail.
