Memorial Day is a federal United States holiday to remember military personnel who have died while performing their duties. It is a good reminder to always remember the sacrifice of those who never came home but fought for our freedom.

Cherry Chicken Pasta Salad
Cherry Chicken Pasta is a creamy pasta salad that is full of flavor from red onions, dried cherries, homemade poppyseed dressing, and toasted almonds. This salad is served cold, much like Chicken Salad.
German Cucumber Salad
Also called Gurkensalat, this version of this recipe is simple, easy, and delicious. It was handed down by my 100% German Great-Grandmother! After serving it over the years I understand that there are several variations of this recipe in Germany, similar to an apple pie for Americans. Some folks add potatoes, some add carrots, some use a soured cream and dump it all together and let the cucumbers sweat. We have always left the skins on the cucumbers for more texture and flavor, but they can also be peeled prior to slicing if you prefer.
Classic Country Potato Salad
Classic Country Potato Salad uses fresh herbs like dill, scallions, and parsley all paired with hints of lemon making this dish a summer favorite! There is something so refreshing about a perfectly prepared potato salad. There are so many different methods to make potato salad, but for this recipe, I kept the skin on. You can certainly peel your potatoes prior to boiling. It just boils down to personal preference. If you would rather have them peeled, go for it!
Grilled Corn on the Cob
Grilled Corn on the Cob is one of our favorite ways to enjoy corn in the summer. Sweet corn at its peak of freshness, then upgraded with the addition of an amazing herbed butter! The subtle crunch and sweetness of this vegetable make it such a versatile ingredient that can be used in a number of different recipes. That being said, my all-time favorite way to eat corn is right off of the cob.
Dill Pickle Dip
Dill Pickle Dip is a creamy, cheesy dip that is loaded with dill pickles and ham to give you plenty of flavor in every bite! This dip gives you all the flavors of the ham and pickle wraps, but in an addicting dip!
Fresh Strawberry Cobbler
Cobblers are an easy, delicious, and fruit-centered dessert. You can whip up a freshly baked, homemade dessert with fresh strawberries as the star of the show! And, after you and your guests taste the dessert, they will think it was a lot harder than it was to make!
No-Bake Cheesecake
Are you are craving the silky smooth delightfulness that is Cheesecake but you don’t want to turn on your oven? I have found the perfect No-Bake Cheesecake recipe for you! This is perfect for those hot summer days when you don’t want to heat up your house! Here are some additional No-Bake desserts you may want to try!
Lemonade Pie
When life gives you lemons, make this Lemonade Pie! Although there are no actual lemons in this recipe, there is plenty of lemon flavor in each bite of this refreshing dessert. An added bonus is that it is a completely no-bake dessert! Who wants to turn on an oven on a hot summer day, which would be the perfect day to enjoy this pie.
Kiwi Bars
These Kiwi Bars are a hit every single time! No need to offer up whipped cream or ice cream, the bar by itself is amazing on its own! One of my favorite things about these bars is the crust. It is rich and buttery, and when paired with the kiwi topping, the contrast of rich butter and slightly sweet and tart kiwi filling does will do magical things.
Homemade Lemonade
When the temperatures start to rise, nothing beats a refreshing glass of ice-cold freshly squeezed Lemonade. This simple lemonade recipe will be your new go-to drink to beat the heat this summer! This recipe is so simple to make, and it is a great way to get the kids involved!
Summer Sangria
Summer Sangria is a refreshing alcoholic beverage that will make it feel like summer all year round! This is an adult punch that can definitely pack a punch if you’re not careful! It is a great drink for grilling with friends, a lazy afternoon, or for your summertime celebrations!
I hope these Memorial Day recipes give you a head start to summer and some ideas you can use for the next few months or more!
